Lighthouse Ministries jointly with Christian Outreach Centre will host a Christmas Party on the 11th December at 34 meadowpark Street from 6 pm. It will be an event worth attending – with fun-packed games, music/praise & worship, Youth Dance and much more. Plus there will be excessive variety of food and of course at the end of it all, you guessed it! ‘Food for the soul’.

Just Like God Restored Samson, God Can Restore You

Lighthouse Ministries, affectionately known as LHM, was recently host to Pastor Israel Claytor and his lovely wife Pastor Victoria Claytor of Rock Church Tabernacle, USA and the title of this blog was the message that Pastor Israel delivered to the Lighthouse (LHM) faithful on Sunday 19th October 2008.

The main text of his message was from Judges 16, which is the story of Samson and Delilah. Pastor Isaiah drew several lessons from that text namely:

Whatever God says will come to pass. Samson’ birth to a woman who was barren was announced by an angel, so we see that word of God trascends physical limitations.
Samson had a weekness, that he could not resist Delilah despite the fact that she was seeking his end. Although he gets a bad press for this, the bible is a mirror and we can see ourselves in the story of Samson. There are several things that we know are bad for us and yet we cannot resist indulging in them.
Persistence is a weapon which Delilah used to great effect. We as Christians should also be persistent in holding onto the promises of God regardless of any setbacks along the way. Then like Delilah, we shall receive the expected result of our persistence.
When we fall God is there to pick us up. Whilst Samson spent that time chained to a grinding mill his hair whioch had been shorn off grew back. That, pastor Isaiah remarked, was a sign of Restoration and God once again responded to the prayer of Samson.
We actually are better placed than Samson, because God has already paid the price through Jesus Christ for every single one of our failings and short comings. We can walk victorious all the time in the power of the Holy Spirit. When we fall and repent, God is read urging on and lifting us up. What a great life.

Pastor Isaiah conluded us by reminding us of the story of Abraham, Genesis 23:14, where God provided the ram fro sacrifice and revealed himself as Jehovah Jireh, the God who sees and then meets our needs.

Trust The Timing Of God

He knows what you need and when you need it! He has the best set aside for you (Jeremiah 29:11). Impatience is often why we hurry. It’s simply a lack of trust. When you’re impatient you’re saying, God, I don’t really trust you. I don’t think you have my best interest at heart. You don’t know when I need it, and I’m in a hurry. Is fast always better? No. It is not. Not always.

God has a plan for your life. But he also has a timetable for your life and a timetable for your life for that matter. Unfortunately, God never explains his timetable. And that can be frustrating! It’s painful when you’re in a hurry and God’s not. But it’s part of maturing, part of growing up. Children have to learn the difference between no and not yet. God knows the right time and the right way. He has a plan and a timetable.

Life is not a sprint; it’s a marathon. God doesn’t want you to burn out. Whether you’re 20 or 50, he doesn’t want to wear you out before he can complete his purposes through you.

The More Reason To Forgive

It’s because Resentment Causes Pain….

Resentment is always self-destructive. It always hurts you more than it does the person you’re resenting. Listen; please understand that resentment won’t work. Job showed us that. He lost everything in a single day. Terrorists came in, killed all his kids, stole all of his cattle, ruined his crops, and he got a terrible disease. Everything went wrong. If anyone had a right to be bitter about the circumstances of life, Job did. But he didnt get resentful. He knew that resentment doesn’t work.

Job said, “To worry yourself to death with resentment would be a foolish, senseless thing to do” (Job 5:2 GN)

Resenting a person is like taking a shotgun, pointing it at yourself, pulling the triger, and hoping to hurt your enemy with the kick of the recoil.

Destiny is not a chance but a choice

There is a Powerful Connection between your Heart and your Mouth (Proverbs 18:21; Proverbs 4:23; Romans 10:9-10). The truth is when this connection is used correctly, it produces awesome results! First, you must find a promise in the word of God. Next, speak it out of your mouth until it becomes rooted in your heart (Romans 10:17).Then continue confessing the promise until you are full of joy and have an image of yourself walking in it.
As the truth (which is the word of God) roots itself in your heart, your spirit will lead you to the very promise you’ve been confessing, making it a reality. Listen: You cannot therefore afford to just speak or think anyhow because now you know the awesome power that is in YOUR words.
